Emergency Services Match 2019

Emergency Services Match 2019

Big ins for ResX as Neptunes make their Australian debut at the MCG

Round 16 of the AFL saw two greats face off in the inaugural Emergency Services Match at the mighty MCG in celebration of Emergency Services workers from across the state.  To commemorate the occasion the Hawthorn Football Club and Produce Now enlisted the help of ResX to make the pregame tribute prior to the match with Collingwood, something special.

This pregame show was the perfect opportunity to debut our brand new Neptune 400 Hybrids, the latest in our range of outdoor-rated fixtures.  These hybrid LED moving heads provide a tight 3° beam, all the way out to a 30° spot.  With an IP65 rating these fixtures are perfect for any outdoor event.  In preparation for the event we compared the output of the Neptune 400 against the brightest Arc Lamp and LED source beam fixtures and profiles from our rental inventory. “We were really impressed with how the Neptunes performed side by side with the best fixtures in the market, in a venue the size of the MCG” commented Tim Hall – ResX’s Managing Director. “We’ve been keeping a close eye on the development of the IP moving lights over the last few years and the Neptunes tick all the boxes for us. Having a self-contained IP-rated fixture do the job saves a lot of time, compared to putting Sharpys, Vipers or Mythos outside in a protective dome”.

ResX manufactured 8 custom all-terrain truss dollies for the event – so we could safely move the dollies on the hallowed MCG turf without damaging the surface.  These dollies easily attach to our 400mm box truss, meaning we could have each truss in position in the quickest amount of time possible. Each dolly was pre-rigged with four Neptune 400 Hybrids, power and data distribution at our warehouse; which meant set up on site was just a matter of positioning the dollies and running power and data out to each one. Without the need for additional weatherproofing the team could keep the weight and size of the dollies down to make them easier to manoeuvre on the field. Some positions also had a boom with three MAC Auras to light the personnel from Emergency Management Victoria, Victoria Police, Ambulance Victoria, Metropolitan Fire Brigade, Country Fire Authority, Life Saving Victoria, Forest Fire Management, Victorian State Emergency Service, and ESTA (Triple 000), as they entered the field. A showcase of emergency services vehicles also drove around the field which meant precise and careful cable management from ResX’s onsite team. The efficient rigging and cable management came into its own with the whole setup being clear from the field of play in less than 10 minutes, leaving time to spare before the first bounce.

The Neptune 400s, custom truss dollies and ResX’s crack onsite team lead by Project Manager Mark Hopkins made the pregame event a huge success on the night.  With over 66,000 fans mesmerized by the amazing light show designed by Tim Newman, we couldn’t be happier with the outcome.  Be sure to keep an eye out for our new Neptune 400’s in the very near future!
